*inhales* i know a lot of people in response to the debate about poland’s birthday often say “but it days July 22 in the published books!”; i get that, and i get why you’d stand by the Official Date that hima picked at one point for whatever reason but i’d just like to point out that the Polish translation of aph has switched po’s birthday to November 11. July 22 views the formation of something called the Polish Committee of National Liberation, where it was like… poland was “”“free”“” but it was more like… free with a huge asterisk. ;;;

November 11 is presently celebrated in poland as their national day, comemmorating the restoration of poland’s soverignty after 123 years of partition. no asterisk on that one. so i mean– July 22 isn’t really a date that insinuates “he’s free!” or “congratulations on the thing!”; it was a turning point, but not.. a good one. knowing feliks i have a feeling he’d much rather be sent good wishes on the day that poland wiggled free from communism and told their partitioners to fuck off. but i mean. ;; that’s just my humble onion.

and also: here’s a snippet from wikipedia, pertaining the matter.

“After the war, the communist authorities of the People’s Republic removed Independence Day from the calendar, though reclamation of independence continued to be celebrated informally on 11 November. The holiday was officially replaced by the National Day of Poland’s Revival as Poland’s National Day, celebrated on the 22 July anniversary of the communist PKWN Manifesto under Josef Stalin. As Poland emerged from Soviet-influenced communism in 1989, the original holiday—on its original 11 November date—was restored.”

poland has had a unique history of overcoming immense hardship with unwavering determination and drive; they’re a strong, proud nation that refused to take what they got sitting down. the least we can do is respect them (and feliks) enough to properly and respectfully acknowledge the independence day that they all have fought so hard for.

TL;DR: feliks’s birthday is november 11.

@crazilyawesomeme

in the polish edition of the manga, this was purposely changed to our independence day ( 11 listopada) , for this very reason. ask any polish person in this fandom , the celebration of the birthday of felek on 22/7 is not only incorrect, but disrespectful and insensitive. Please use your heads , and have a good, harmless time . If you are still going to be silly about it , use the name day for feliks on 21/2 or 1/3 , as though they are fading, name days are celebrated in Poland.

It took me 5000 years to find this post again but in case anyone wanted visual proof that Himaruya requested this change, here it is.
